What is sitting volleyball?

Sitting volleyball is a Paralympic sport played by athletes with physical disabilities. It follows the same basic rules as standing volleyball, but the main difference is that players stay seated: part of the body between the pelvis and shoulders must stay in contact with the floor whenever they play the ball. The court is smaller, at 10 by 6 meters, and the net is lower, at 1.15 meters for men and 1.05 meters for women. The result is a fast, powerful game with long rallies. The sport has been part of the Paralympic Games since 1980.

Beyond weekly practice, we offer:

  • Clinics throughout the year for people who want to learn the game or sharpen their skills

  • National competition: we send a team or two to the USA Volleyball (USAV) national championships every year
